A passion for nature and photography has always been present in my life, though not always together. My childhood memories are split between fishing trips to the river with my father and climbing cherry trees with my grandfather. My love for photography also comes from my father, who always carried an old reflex camera wrapped in a curious brown leather case. From him I received my first camera, a Pentax Asahi Spotmatic SP II, which still takes excellent photos today.
During my time in the Canary Islands (1995–1999), I began experimenting with my first artistic photographs. However, the cost of film, developing, and slides kept that passion on hold for a while. Years later, thanks to Txemi—a true naturalist and photography enthusiast—those two great passions finally came together, growing into what could now be called a small obsession.
From that point on, learning became constant: studying photographs, reading books, and above all, playing with the camera. My influences are many, from local photographers who revealed the beauty of our immediate surroundings (Isabel Díez, Asier Castro, Rosa Basurto), to internationally renowned masters (Galen Rowell, José B. Ruiz, Mark Adamus).
